C.V.N.A. TEAM HELPED RAISE OVER $70,000                                  Tuesday July 8, 2003

During this year’s Relay for Life of Lansing, held at Everett High School on Saturday, June 28 –  Sunday June 29, 2003, a dedicated team of walkers from C.V.N.A helped to raise over $70,000 to fight cancer.  This years goal was $49,000, but the official count so far is $21,000 over that and  donations are still coming in.  The American Cancer Society Relay for Life offers everyone in the community an opportunity to join in the fight against cancer, and this years relay was so successful organizers are already planning for next year.

Many thanks to our C.V.N.A. chairperson Evelyn Bush and president June Kenfield for all of their hard work.  Plus a very special thank you to Barry Ford for the wonderful music and to all of the C.V.N.A walkers who kept our team moving.

JOIN THE C.V.N.A. RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM                                   Saturday April 5, 2003

As the signature activity of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life offers everyone in the community an opportunity to join in the fight against cancer.  Teams of 15 – 20 people take turns walking around a track while enjoying activities and entertainment.  This year’s Relay for Life of Lansing will be held at Everett High School on Saturday, June 28 – Sunday June 29, 2003.  The Relay will begin and end at 10:00 A.M.   Walkers are encouraged to raise at least $100 in pledges.

Most of us have been touched by cancer:  family or friends, if not ourselves.  Your help is needed on the C.V.N.A. team.  This is a great way to get to know our neighbors while helping a very worthwhile cause.  For more information or to sign up as a walker, call our C.V.N.A. Chairperson Evelyn Bush at 484-2983.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT!                                                             Saturday December 21, 2002

Recently there was an attempted robbery of a home in our neighborhood. The suspects in this case were driving a black SUV with an out of state license plate on it with a cardinal on the plate. The disturbing fact about this case is this is the second time these suspects have targeted the same home in our neighborhood. Last time they were able to steal a large sum of money. On this occasion, a neighbor scared the suspects off. If you have any information on this vehicle or the attempted robbery please call Detective Larner at the South Precinct, 272-7485.

RED BOWS ON STREET LIGHTS!                                            Monday December 09, 2002

Thanks neighbors, for the suggestion to share the spirit of the holidays by placing red bows on our street lights for the month of December.  The Board of Water and Light has given us permission to place bows only on the lights with the cement bases, not tall lights or those on poles.

CVNA doesn’t have the money
to buy the bows.  If you think bows are a good idea, please get together with your neighbors and make arrangements for your block.  The red bows do not have to be exactly the same.  All we’ll need is a little snow to highlight our beautiful neighborhood!

NEW CVNA SIGNS AND BROCHURE!                                     Monday December 09, 2002

Thanks to the grant from the Neighborhood Advisory Board, we were able to purchase ten new yard signs to promote our meetings and activities.  Thanks to Anita Beavers, Randy Williams and June Kenfield for choosing the sign design.

We hope that the new membership brochure will answer any questions you might have about the CVNA.  Thanks to Anita Beavers, Willie Vinson and Suzanne Williams for taking all our ideas and designing this great information piece.
HOLIDAY CAROLING PARTY UPDATE!                                    Friday December 13, 2002
Our caroling party will be on Sunday, Dec. 15, 5:30 P.M. We will meet in front of Grace United Methodist Church. We will carol for an hour and then meet at Paul and June Kenfield's house, 2919 Boston Blvd. to visit and have hot chocolate, punch and cookies.  Since it will be dark while we're caroling, participants might want to bring a flashlight or a booklight to read the words to the carols. Please remember to dress warm.
